KEWASKUM – In Packers country, the number four is familiar, but the name Judas on a jersey?

“Lot of people laugh, lot of people give us different looks, got a few emails here and there that weren’t too pleasant, we’re just doing it for fun,” Jason Strobel of Kewaskum said.

The shirts are the brainchild of a pair of friends, who say they love the Packers, but have found a biblical way to express their frustration with Brett Favre.

“He wants to come back and basically stick it to them,” Strobel said. “So, we are basically calling him a traitor and just said he’s like Judas, Judas Iscariot, and it stuck.”

Strobel says they made the design, took it to the web and it took off. They’ve sold 90 shirts so far, including an order overseas.

“Maine, California, couple from canada, all over the United States,” he said.

While some fans may think the shirt goes too far, Strobel says they’re meant to be funny. After all, he spent years watching number four.

“Love Brett, no doubt,” he said. “You know, 16 years of great football.”

But, Strobel has moved on, he still supports the Packers but now embraces Aaron Rodgers who he calls the new hero in town.

Strobel says the venture is still rather new, it’s not a moneymaker yet, but is entertaining. So, he took his shirts for a test run with friends at a local tavern.

Daniel Marx of Kewaskum liked the shirt and said the name is fitting for Favre.

“I think he stabbed the Packers in the back, he can play where he wants but he bad-mouthed the Packers organization and I think that’s wrong,” Marx said.

Others, disagreed saying Favre is still a Wisconsin hero.

“I like to watch him, my wife thinks he’s the greatest,” bar owner Barney Strobel said. “I’ll watch him no problem.”

Strobel and his friends say they’ll do the same. With shirts in both purple and green, they call Favre a traitor, but won’t turn away come game day.
