KEWASKUM – In Packers country, the number four is familiar, but the name Judas on a jersey?

“Lot of people laugh, lot of people give us different looks, got a few emails here and there that weren’t too pleasant, we’re just doing it for fun,” Jason Strobel of Kewaskum said.

The shirts are the brainchild of a pair of friends, who say they love the Packers, but have found a biblical way to express their frustration with Brett Favre.

“He wants to come back and basically stick it to them,” Strobel said. “So, we are basically calling him a traitor and just said he’s like Judas, Judas Iscariot, and it stuck.”

Strobel says they made the design, took it to the web and it took off. They’ve sold 90 shirts so far, including an order overseas.

“Maine, California, couple from canada, all over the United States,” he said.

While some fans may think the shirt goes too far, Strobel says they’re meant to be funny. After all, he spent years watching number four.

“Love Brett, no doubt,” he said. “You know, 16 years of great football.”

But, Strobel has moved on, he still supports the Packers but now embraces Aaron Rodgers who he calls the new hero in town.

Strobel says the venture is still rather new, it’s not a moneymaker yet, but is entertaining. So, he took his shirts for a test run with friends at a local tavern.

Daniel Marx of Kewaskum liked the shirt and said the name is fitting for Favre.

“I think he stabbed the Packers in the back, he can play where he wants but he bad-mouthed the Packers organization and I think that’s wrong,” Marx said.

Others, disagreed saying Favre is still a Wisconsin hero.

“I like to watch him, my wife thinks he’s the greatest,” bar owner Barney Strobel said. “I’ll watch him no problem.”

Strobel and his friends say they’ll do the same. With shirts in both purple and green, they call Favre a traitor, but won’t turn away come game day.

If anyone is Judas it’s Green Bay and the Packers. Brett built that new stadium for us and gave us 15 years of pure joy. What do we do? Turn our back on him. I hope he plays for another 16 years!

    • N.T.C.

Yes, thats right, because when they asked him if he was returning for the ‘08 season, he said he was retired. They then moved forward. How does this fact escape so many people?

    • JDub

So Brett is a contractor now…and all the legends that came before him and conducted themselves as true professionals mean nothing? You delusional viewpoint is laughable. By your logic, we should be thankful for having a job and we should be sending our paychecks to Brett…because I am sure he had something to do with that as well.

Let me give you some other names you might remember:

Lambeau, Adderley, Lombardie, Hornung, Starr, Nitscke, White, Jones, Dotson, Holmgren, Wolf, Butler, Freeman, Levens, Green, Brown, etc, etc etc. Think any of those people had anything to do with “building” Lambaue field?

  • Why?

Brett Favre brought notoriety and a championship to Green Bay. Why can’t you just let him do what he wants with the waning moments of his career. He is not under contract with Green Bay and has no obligation to that organization. If the haphazard fumbling of his retirement and his wish to play for the Vikings is your only point of criticism, for a man who has given you so much, then it really says a lot more about your character then it does about his.

  • N.T.C.

Once again you miss the point. What makes people mad is the way he tries to spin everything to make it look like he was wronged and his refusal to admit his agenda. If just once he had said “The Pack doesn’t want me, I want to play, and Ill play for a team who wants me” then people would be fine. However, if this were the case, he would still be on the Jets. But no, he fake retired again, from the Jets, just so he could fulfill his stupid vendetta. That is why people are upset with Favre.

And to question someone’s character because of a sports blog is a bit off. Sports fans are passionate and vent frustrations all the time. Relax a bit, unless you are a member of Brett Favre’s family or Mr. Favre himself.

  • bob

Get a life!! The pack screwed him and did not want him so what is your problem? Jealousy? Ted Thompson is the traitor, Mike Mcarthy is the traitor, and your mom.

  • Reality Check

It’s one thing to be a fan of Brett Favre, but if it means you have to wear purple and gold to do it, then forget it. The bottom line is that in a few years when Favre is out of the NFL and the news, all of the people who are sporting their new colors will be crawlin back to Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy and the Packers asking for their fanship back because they will be completely lost. The only prayer they will have left is the hope that they could one day watch a Viking/Packer game with Brett Favre on his living room couch cheering on the purple and gold downgrading the organization that they both used to live for every Sunday.
Don’t refer to these shirt guys as hopping on any sort of “bandwagon”, last time I checked, sounds like these guys are GREEN BAY PACKER FANS. The only fans on the bandwagon are the ones that have changed their colors for three years in a row now. Farve had 16 great years but the Favre wagon is running out of gas, so I’ll stick with the Pack. There are a lot of other players out on that field that deserve our support, so if your a true Packer fan, don’t slap them in the face by showing up to Lambeau in purple.

  • Favre4ever

Don’t publicize your stupidity. You guys are the most unintelligent morons in the world. Let’s say you changed jobs. Would you like your neighbors and friends to publicly ostracize you and try to run you out of the neighborhood? I don’t think so. The Packers moved on, Favre moved on, and now he’s going to take a shot with a team that has a chance at the Super Bowl. Don’t try to defame the legacy of the greatest player in Green Bay Packers history. I don’t even want to think about the sorry state the franchise would be if not for Favre. The Packers never would have won the Super Bowl, never would have renovated Lambeau Field, never would have acquired Reggie White, never would have come back into the national spotlight and the team’s entire existence would be in question. Without Favre, you wouldn’t have anything to complain out because you wouldn’t even have a team.

Don’t try to pass yourselves off as “fans.” Everyone knows you’re actually idiots.

  • David

The irony here is rich. Judas is the one who denounced the man he used to love and worship, for money.

You guys wearing shirts that say “Judas” — you wearing the name Judas, not Favre –on it is very appropriate indeed, but not for the reasons you think it is!

  • Why?

Favre4ever, I’m with you on the many cogent points you make. Favre is not going to come out and say “The Pack doesn’t want me, I want to play, and Ill play for a team who wants me” because that isn’t going to get him on team he wants to play for, the Vikings. Sure he’s been less than forthright about his retirement plans, but his engineering has allowed him to get out of his contract and finish his career where he chooses. How many times have we heard about NFL players upset with their contracts for a variety of reasons. Fact is, Favre got himself away from Ted Thompson and got himself into the exact situation he feels he has earned. Yes, he does seem to be a prima donna, but how can you really feel that he has personally betrayed you just because he had a dispute with his boss and sought a way out his contract? Can’t you just leave him alone?

  • Favre4ever

I’ll tell you who the real Judas is, Packers fans who betray a guy who gave everything he had to the team for 16 years. In all of those seasons, the Packers only had one losing year. In the year he’s been gone they’ve already matched that.

In the past year I have lost all the respect I once had for Packers fans. They herald themselves as the greatest fans in sports with the most character…that’s obviously false advertising. Take one look at the bozos making these shirts and you’ll realize that Packer fans are clearly not the cream of the crop.

  • Brett Favre

    Dear Favre4ever,

Thank you for worshiping me. I am so great now that next year I think I will go play for the Chicago Bears, would you like that? I bet you would. Hell, I’ll even let you come over a couple times a year and take out my trash. (but only if you bring your sister)

    Your Golden Calf,

    Brett Favre

Have you seen this website? Judas Favre. Everyone seems to have an opinion about ME. Why don’t don’t people just listen & believe ME?

Do these people think they’re funny? Talking & acting like I’m some vindictive, petty, immature, clueless, egotistical, manipulative, selfish, despicable, legacy-destroying, traitorous butt-head. I’d like to set the record straight. I am NOT a butt-head.

People, people, this talk has got to stop. Why do you all persist? If you think it’s your job to pick me apart, I have one word for you. Retire…

  • Favre4ever

Hey, at least my arguments are made using facts. Your comments are based on unfounded emotions and a low IQ level.

    • JDub

      Dear Favre4ever,

Let me respond to some quotes in your previous post, namely ” I don’t even want to think about the sorry state the franchise would be if not for Favre. The Packers never would have won the Super Bowl, never would have renovated Lambeau Field, never would have acquired Reggie White, never would have come back into the national spotlight and the team’s entire existence would be in question. Without Favre, you wouldn’t have anything to complain out because you wouldn’t even have a team.”

Here are some facts for you. The sorry state of the franchise was remedied by some guys named Ron Wolf, Mike Holmgren and Bob Harlan. These three “afterthoughts” in your delusional world are the men who sought out great players, assembled a great team and coached and mentored these players into becoming a cohesive winning unit. One man is not the reason for success..except in your myopic viewpoint. Your post, which clearly and obviously shows your love and devotion to ONE player and not a team, is laughable. You are laughable. And, to end….your posts have no facts in them at all. The only fact you posted anywhere on here is your comment regarding about the “Packers moving on.” You are right, they did move on, however, your savior Lord Favre has not and all his loyal followers have not. Please, go be a Vikings fan and make sure you don’t come crying back asking for forgiveness from Packer fans.

  • N.T.C.

Three cheers for JDub!! I came on here to “educate” Favre4ever, but you have schooled him better than i could have. Nice post and you hit my sentiments exactly.

Favre fans, while you yell louder and throw a bigger tantrum, you are in the minority.

  • Farve4ever Is an Idiot

Jdub – way to hit the nail right on the head. Thanks for pointing out that the “facts” that farve4ever used in his argument weren’t facts at all, rather just poor assumptions based on his obsession. Favre4ever you should get a #4 tattoo on your chest and you might as well just use all of the colors in your crayola box to color it in because who knows how many teams favre will want to play for now to try to beat the Pack. Ironically, when you are done with it it will probably look like a gay pride flag.

  • Matthew Struble

Favre is a douche. Jdub, that was a nice post, now copy that to everywhere else.

  • Favre4ever

Alright, let me break it down for you guys. The Packers were losers for a quarter century. Between 1968 and 1994 they had hosted only one playoff game and clinched only one division title. Coaches threatened to trade their players to Green Bay if they didn’t shape up. The Packers were at the bottom of the league in revenue, and with rumblings about a new free agency system coming to pro football, executives around the league thought the team would have to leave Green Bay be successful. The 90s would be the nail in the coffin for a franchise that was stuck idly in the past.

But Bob Harlan, Ron Wolf and Mike Holmgren are all amazing. Those three men, along with Favre and Reggie White, made the Packers what they became in the 90s and today. But the fact remains, the Packers would not have won the Super Bowl without Brett Favre. Without Brett Favre, Reggie White would not have come to Green Bay, as he cited Favre as his main reason for coming to a franchise that had only hosted one playoff game since the Ice Bowl. White had separated Favre’s shoulder in a 1992 game but Favre continued to play and showed a rare toughness and talent that White realized was special. After signing, White subsequently attracted other free agent players, specifically African Americans, to the team (Sean Jones, Santana Dotson, etc). Suddenly Green Bay had become a preferred destination in the league, something it hadn’t been since Lombardi. But the key piece was Favre. Three consecutive MVP awards, and attracting Reggie to town is what won the Super Bowl for the Packers.

In 2000, after a decade of success and two Super Bowl appearances, Brown County FINALLY passed a referendum to pay for a Lambeau Field renovation. The vote passed by only 2%. Without Favre, without the Super Bowl championship and success of the team, the vote never would have passed. Bob Harlan has admitted many times that had the vote failed, which it almost did, he would have looked into stadium options in Milwaukee. But in Milwaukee, Miller Park was being built, making taxpayers reluctant to foot the bill for a new stadium. And as the delays increased, the cost of the renovation would increase (look at recent stadiums that have been built for $1 billion recently, 4 times the cost of stadiums built earlier this decade!). Harlan has said many times that he is unsure what the future of the Packers would have been had that vote not passed.

So think about it guys, without the record-breaking success and championship of Brett Favre, the Packers would not have a renovated Lambeau Field. As absolutely amazing as Wolf and Holmgren are, they probably would not have been able to bring home a title without making the move for Favre. White would not have come to town, and although they would have fielded a respectable team, it wouldn’t have been enough.

Look, if you want the Packers to win the Super Bowl and beat Brett Favre this year, that’s understandable. He’s now a rival. But why do you try to attack him for simply doing what is best for his career? He made a mistake and retired too early, and Thompson traded him. Now he’s a free agent and wants to play for a team with a Super Bowl shot. I don’t really see the story here. Brett Favre is obviously the best quarterback the Packers will ever have. No other quarterback will come into Green Bay and break every record in the book. Ever. I think you should show some respect for a man we got to watch for 16 incredible years. He’s the best player in franchise history. So start acting like it.

  • SuperBowl31

Favre4ever just gave it to JDub like Favre is going to give it to Ted Thompson and the Packers this season. Favre4ever is the only competent one on this board.

The fact that Favre may be playing on the Vikings is frustrated, but that it no way should cause you “Packer Puppets” to turn on him after all the great years he gave to the organization. Your guys though process is so backwards.

Thompson should be the one taking the hits on here right now not Brett. In fact without Favre’s amazing season in 2007 Thompson and McCarthy wouldn’t have been signed to thier lucrative contract extensions.

Two words to JDub and his ignorant followers: Wake Up!

  • Stevegoat

    SuperBowl31,

While my name is stupid makes no sense, yours shows 1 simple thing….you cant let go.

Let it go. Your boy Favre was great, but he is now a running joke in the league and with his former fans.

Additionally, I want you to take of the Favre glasses and see how much some of Teddy T’s pickups played into the 2007 success. It is safe to say that Ryan Grant, Jennings, Charles Woodson and others had something to do with that success.

I will say it one last time; Teddy T had to do what was best for the future, Favre retired and he went with Aaron Rodgers. At that point there was no turning back. If he would have let Diva boy back in, we would have lost Aaron Rodgers to free agency. You may not like Aaron Rodgers, but he will be here much longer than Favre would have…even had he stayed. Thats called forward thinking, it has to occur in business or you end up like the Redskins.

  • JDub

So in a nutshell, Favre4ever just reposted everything I posted. Nice google search on your Packer history. The fact is that YES, Brett Favre had an integral part in the success of the team during the past 15+ years, and yes, his play on the field and his good old boy charm put butts in the seats and brought other players here. HOWEVER, what you fail to see is that the luster of that charm and the allure of his legacy are now gone, and he alone was not responsible for the success of the team during that time…PERIOD. People like you are the ones who created the media whore that is the modern day Favre; without accountability, without regard for his team, his fans and his bosses who sign his checks and without regard to anything but himself. Last year, when GB traded him, there were no media reports supporting the Packers, just a bunch of “how dare you nonsense.” Now, people have seen his tired act and his holier than thou interpretation of himself and have had enough. If he really wants to “just play football” then he should have stayed in NY where he said “I am comfortable here and Mike (Tannenbaum) could not have been nicer to me.” His asking for his release and then retiring was a clear indication to those who are not blinded by his legend that he wanted to punch a ticket to Minnesota. PERIOD.

Just because he played here for 16 years and holds records is in no way a prerequisite for me, or any one else to dismiss his poor behavior and vengeful antics over the last year as “him just wanting to do what is best for his career.” The skeletons are out, and they are ugly. What would have been best for his career is to retire a Packer and bow out gracefully. Not bow out, come back, cry on talk shows, get traded, talk to NFC North teams, play hurt and adversely affect his team, alienate himself from his Jet teammates with private locker rooms and private meetings, state he wanted to stick it to Thompson, admit he played to compete with Rodgers, ask for his release, ask for his release again, retire, come back, have surgery, publicly state he has animosity towards the team he played for for 16 years, double talk on another talk show, sign with their biggest rival and concoct a story that it is because “you know the offense.” Sorry, but if you still support this type of childish vengeful behavior, you are no better than he is.

To quote Superbowl31, “two words for you and Favre’s ignorant followers: Wake up!”

Lastly, if the Vikings with Favre at QB do happen to beat the Packers once, or even twice this year, what does that prove? Does it prove that Favre is better, no? Does it prove that he was the reason they beat the Packers, no? Unless he throws 6TD’s in both games and AP is hurt. It proves nothing, other than they were the better TEAM. If the Packers beat the Vikings once, or even twice this year, what does that prove? Nothing, other than they were the better TEAM. Favre4ever, you have your opinion, I just think it is wrong.

Oh, by your thinking, if he was the best player in Packer history, I would contend that HE should have won many more Superbowls than HE did. But alas, HE did not. Rational thinking states that HE alone was not responsible for all those stats and wins. Because there were guys on the other ends of all those passes that caught them, and guys keeping opposing players off his back, and guys on the other side of the ball playing their guts out, and yet they still could only muster one Superbowl victory. Do you see where I am going here Favre4ever? By your own “hero worship” based thinking, HE alone was not responsible, the 16 PACKER TEAMS he played on where. As any fan of any sport will tell you, it is about the TEAM, not the players. If you have your favorite players, fine, but to give all the credit to one is myopic.

PS, Superbowl31, if you are going to piggyback someone else’s post in order to make yourself feel as though you have your own opinion, please do so in a manner in which we do not clearly see your 4th grade mental capacity and your clear tendency to “fly into the flame” in support of someone who could care less about you. Admirable attempt though…..now go back and try again.

  • NICK

Seriously people? Seriously? Get over it!! Remember last year when Favre wanted to come out of retirement and play for the PACKERS? Did you forget that? Remember when the Packers said no and didn’t want him to come back? Favre didn’t ever want to play for any other team other then the Packers. You gotta remember who turned their back on who first. The answer, the Packers. So Brett went over to a so-so team and almost took them to the playoffs. He would have too if his arm didn’t get hurt. Now at the age of 39 going on 40 after having surgery in his throwing arm he wants to come back. Hmm…if i’m Favre do I wanna come back to a team for one more year and get no where? Absolutley NOT! Hey how bout this MN Vikings team who is one player short of being a contender, yes i said contender like it or not its the truth and you all know it. Hey and that certain position that needs to be filled to be a contender just happens to be quarterback. Well hey look at this Bevill is the offensive coordinator there. He used to be his quarterback coach for 4 years. Good relationship there. His arm isn’t what it used to be but you know what Favre doesn’t have to carry his team like he did all those years in GB because he finally has a running back by the name of Adrian Peterson. Yes he had a couple years where you guys had a running game but just a couple. Plus he comes in already being familiar with the system they run. Cry Cry Cry all you want, dont be mad at Brett for wanting one more ring. And are you guys seriously going to hate the man that brought you so much happiness and joy and titles to Wisconsin football just because he went to play his last year in the purple? come on people grow up. Grow UP!!!

  • JDub

Nick, you contradict and double talk yourself as much as Favre does.

“Get over it!! Remember last year when Favre wanted to come out of retirement and play for the PACKERS? Did you forget that? Remember when the Packers said no and didn’t want him to come back? Favre didn’t ever want to play for any other team other then the Packers. You gotta remember who turned their back on who first. The answer, the Packers.”

Actually, do you remember when Favre retired? Do you remember when the Packers contacted Favre twice after said retirement to make sure he was OK with his decision and that he was for sure retired? This is called “due diligence” and is done not because they didn’t want him back, but becasue they did want him back and were making sure that the tough decision to move forward was the prudent one to make. This is what you and all the Favre followers have yet to grasp…even though this scenario was verified by Favre on Greta in June 2008.

“Hmm…if i’m Favre do I wanna come back to a team for one more year and get no where?”

So the Jets are going nowhere after spending $100 million on FA? Look at the stats, the Jets and Vikings are essentially the SAME TEAM, the two main differences…the Vikings defense is ranked 4 positions higher and the Jets wide receiving corps is ranked 16 positions higher. So, by that, it is a wash. Try again.

“Plus he comes in already being familiar with the system they run.”

If this is true, then why have published reports in Minnesota been released stating that the Vikings offense has already been “dummied down” in anticipation of Favre’s arrival? Try again.

“And are you guys seriously going to hate the man that brought you so much happiness and joy and titles to Wisconsin football just because he went to play his last year in the purple?”

No, we do not hate Favre because of everything he did for the Packers in the past….we hate him because of what he has done to the Packers in the past year. Try again.

    In summary, try again Nick.

  • NICK

Tooshay on some good points, i’ll admit that. But JDub you are blind to reality. Dont be mad. Dont cry. You can’t let it go that Brett left you guys and is now going to be playing for a better team. We will just have to see when we face ya twice this year

  • Stevegoat

Even if Favre wins the Superbowl with the Vikings, it doesnt erase the fact that he is acting like a punk and has been since last year.

Favre could throw for 50 tds this year and win it all, I will still think he is a douche and has destroyed his legacy. Not his legacy as a great player, but his legacy as a team player and as someone who plays solely for “the love of the game”.

And, Nick, i would curb your Vikings confidence. Please remeber that they have no wideouts, no secondary, a dip coach and lost their best center. Favre will need to put up around 30 pts per game to do anything there. But this is a discussion for another board at another time.

  • NICK

    Stevegoat,
Bernard Berrian, Percy Harvin, Sidney Rice. Your right not the best but better then some teams. Good enough recievers when you actually have a QB who can get the ball to them. Also i know this isn’t that great of a point but Marvin Harrison said if Favre signs he wants to come here. I know he isn’t what he used to be but if we got him he could be a good 3rd reciever, veteran who knows how to play the postion
Antoine Winfield, Medai Williams Cedric Griffin Tyrell Johnson. Not the best in the leaugue but arguably pretty damn good. But you gotta remember that when teams are passing the ball on you 50 times a game because no one can run on them the numbers are obviously going to look like we have no pass defense.
Brad Childress, not a huge fan but he has brought in damn good talent in his tenure here and has made this team better every year he has been here. Cant really argue against that.
Matt Birk, yes i’m going to miss him i wish we would have signed him back but we are hoping Sullivan can step in and fill those big shoes
I know im never going to win a debate on a Packer website. I am a true Vikings fan and will always root for them. But you know good luck to the packers cause if the viking dont win the north i want to packers to and i will cheer for them

  • JDub

Marvin Harrison…..please. His numbers have been steadily falling off for the last 3 years playing with the BEST QB IN THE NFL. How could he do better with maybe, maybe a top 20 QB in Favre?

And, the Vikings lost their best secondary player in Sharper this year. Even with him on the team, the Vikings secondary never sniffed the top 20 in the league. Their front seven is the reason their defense is what it is. Subtract the Williams’ and you have an average at best defense for 4 games.

Brad Childress is nothing more than a puppet. He never called plays in Philly and did nothing more on the sidelines than be a cheerleader.

Lastly, the Vikings QR’s are the biggest joke in the NFl. None of them have ever topped 1000 yards, and they are paying $7 million/year for a guy who is a humber 2 at best on any other team. And Harvin, he couldn’t stay healthy in college, what makes you think he will in the NFL. He has talent, but seems to be content to smoke his money away and become the next Viking chump. Mark it down Nick, this team was 10-6 and made it to the playoffs last year without Favre. I predict they will be worse with him as they will be forced to throw the ball more because of who Favre is, a gunslinger, thereby intorducing more turnovers. Like I said, mark it down….history always repeats itself.

  • Stevegoat

Yeah, no team in the NFC north is really complete. All the Favre fighting aside, it should shape up to be quite a season. A season full of all kinds of drama and huge games. Any one of these teams, execept the Lions, could be a sleeper. When Favre goes to the Vikings, they will be better no doubt. If the Vikings can avoid the drama and keep him in control, they have a real chance. Please Please, Vikings and Viking’s fans, dont run Adrien Peterson into the ground and kill him in 4 years. He is a special talent and great on fantasy teams.

    Let the show begin!!

  • Stevegoat

Although, as JDub said, keeping that old man under control is near impossible, take it from those of us who have watched him forever. And, unfortunately for the Vikings, he will crap out once his agenda has been met.

  • Favre4ever

Jdub, you tell me to check the facts when you can’t even name the coach of the Packers in 2004? And apparently I’m pretty good with Google to be able to string together those facts in such a cohesive argument in my earlier post. Your attempt at a lame accusation failed.

By the way, have you ever heard of the concept that football is the ultimate team sport? Favre’s lack of multiple Super Bowl titles has a lot to do with the total incompetence some of the teammates he was playing with. Two of his top receivers for several years were Bill Schroeder and Corey Bradford. After the mid-90s it seemed like Packers management said “Hey, we’ve got the best quarterback in the league, let’s see if he can get us to the Super Bowl on his own.” Doesn’t work.

I’m not asking anyone to cheer for Favre. He’s going to be on the Vikings now, hence the enemy to Packers fans. But I don’t understand how you can defame the legacy of one of the Packers’ most storied figures. Vince Lombardi weasled his way out of town to coach the Washington Redskins. Curly Lambeau, who founded the Packers and coached the team to six championships, left Green Bay bitterly hating the team (and then coaching the rival Chicago Cardinals). Hall of Famers Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice all ended their careers with other teams. This is a business and it happens. Respect what Favre did in Green Bay and move on to the current players. But don’t hate Favre and call him Judas. It doesn’t make any sense.

And FYI jdub, “Super Bowl 31″ had a post far more coherent than most of your ramblings.

  • nick

HAHAHAHA ok JDUb just on one of your comments “And, the Vikings lost their best secondary player in Sharper this year” i love darren sharper dont get me wrong. But you didnt watch the vikes 16 games last year. Darren sharper was HORRIBLE!!! we didn’t lose him, he was a free agent and we didn’t even offer him anything

  • JDub

Let me repeat this for you Favre4ever, a little slower so you can understand. I do not hate Favre for what he did for the Packers over the course of his career, I hate him for what he has done to my beloved team and the fans (myself included) over the course of the last year. I am not sure how much clearer I can make that, but go back and look at my post this morning….I said it there also.

Vince Lombardie, Curly Lambeau, Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, Emmit Smith and Jerry Rice all left the teams they were with forever with dignity and profesionalism. Did you see any of them on Greta type shows crying about how he was mistreated? Did you see any of them handling ALL of their business in the media after they were traded? Did you see any of them publicly state that they played with another team to “stick it” to them? NO. That is what is at the heart of this. They acted like professionals and not coddled little babies.

I hear you on that but he doesn’t want to stick it to packer fans because the majority of packer fans wanted him back. I believe he wants to stick it to Ted Thompson. But thats not the reason he wants to come back. That would be stupid for someone his age to play a full season, hopefully playoffs too, just so two of those games he can stick it to them. There is a bigger picture here and your obviously missing it

  • JDub

“Part of me coming back last year, I have to admit now, was sticking it to Ted.” Straight from Favres mouth on January 4, 2009 in his end of the year press conference.

What evidence do you have that his potential stint with the Vikings is fueled by anything less than revenge on the team that traded him? And sorry, “sticking it to TT” also means sticking it to the Packer organization and their fans….we are nothing more than collateral damage in his vengeful endeavor.

The bigger picture is this….Favre wants revenge and a big “told you so.” Everyone sees it, why else would he want out of NY with such haste? He wanted it last year when he was still a Packer, and now it seems he will get his wish. My wish….Favre to fail miserably…nothing more, nothing less.

  • nick

probably the part where he quotes “PART of me coming back” PART PART PART PART PART

  • JDub

“Part” can represent 10%, it can also represent 99%. Who knows, but all signs point to a “major part.”

  • DJ

Yeah, I see it as wanting to stick it to the entire Packer nation. Starr/Horning to mention a few, were and are great PACKERS, Favre is not a PACKER

  • DJ

Hey, did you hear were the Minnesoda chamber of commerce is
changing there logo to: THE STATE OF 10,000 interceptions?

  • Favre4ever

“Yeah, I see it as wanting to stick it to the entire Packer nation. Starr/Horning to mention a few, were and are great PACKERS, Favre is not a PACKER”

Wow. Now that’s quite an interpretation. I didn’t realize I was talking to people suffering from major mental illnesses. I guess this isn’t a place to have an intelligent discussion.

Then again, I’m posting on a site called “Judas Favre.” So it was stupid of me to have assumed this was a place for rationalization in the first place.

  • JDub

    Favre4ever,

“I didn’t realize I was talking to people suffering from major mental illnesses. I guess this isn’t a place to have an intelligent discussion.”

Just because people on here do not agree with your take on the situation does not mean they are not having “intelligent discussions.”

In my world, intelligent discussions are those that are had between people that are full of facts and sources for opinions. In your world, intelligent discussions are those that are full of blind faith and baseless accusations. Sorry I had to be so blunt……..provide me with some factual statements or links to support your contention Mr. Legend was “forced” out of GB and how GB did nothing to get him back. Please, enlighten me. Thanks ahead of time…….

    Are you people serious???

“He wants to come back and basically stick it to them,” Strobel said. “So, we are basically calling him a traitor and just said he’s like Judas, Judas Iscariot, and it stuck.”

I mean come on. Your actually comparing Favre to Judas Iscariot? So who did Favre sell for 30 pieces of silver. Please………….

  • CD

By the way Favre will ALWAYS be a Packer. Peace Out.

  • DoctorM

I just read this whole discussion and it is clear the hosts of the website fall into “Don’t confuse me with the facts, I have already made up my mind.” As Favre himself said, “This is all about football- a game-it’s not life and death.”

Hopefully one day it will just be what it is, with no secondary readings. Since Favre has gotten older he needs about 5 months to feel his body regenerate. Any answer he gives before that is questionable. He never turned in retirement papers in ‘08, which in my company means you are not officially retired. Favre decided he wanted to come back for another year and the Pack said we’ve moved on. They moved Brett on to Siberia then. A team that had never done much of anything and expected everything of favre.

It was very obvious that something BROKE when Favre went from leading the team to 8-3 and then the last losses. Favre clearly did not have the arm. After the Jets drafted Sanchez and sold 20,000 jerseys in the first week, they knew they could release Favre. They had their QB of the future.

Favre now wants to play another year. The Packers won’t hire him. Is he supposed to stay home so he doesn’t hurt your feelings? So he plays for the Vikings

I have been a Packer fan since Lombardi and I think Thompson made the strategic error here. Thompson does not have good people skills. Just leave Brett alone and let him play.

I think your comparing him to one of the most significant men in the Bible shows how out of proportion your feelings are for this guy. He’s just a football player, a damn good one. That’s what he would tell you, too. He’s just playing football for another year.

You don’t need to answer. I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

  • CD is a homo

    CD,
Brett Favre sold out the Packer Fans for thirty pieces of silver. He blew it all on one night with your mom.

  • Stevegoat

“You don’t need to answer. I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.”

    Sir,

You should have stopped prior to writing the above statement.

DoctorM is saying people who dislike Favre’s behavior are dumb. Since he agrees with Favre, any counterpoint must be derived from an unintelligent mind, because after all, DoctorM is smarter then all of us. He is brilliant gosh darnit….just ask him.

See DoctorM, because you have an opinion and because you think you are brilliant, does not actually mean you are smarter then someone who does not share your viewpoint. You sir, have just destroyed your whole argument with that last statement. In fact, you showed your ignorance.

    F4E
Yeah was stupid of you, now go back and drink your purple kool-aid. wow
    CD
Hate, mmmm, I don’t recall ever using that word, but you did in refering to people who don’t think like you, and really? Favre w/ the Pack again? I really need to keep up on my sports. Peace out.
But hey, the t-shirt is all in fun, just like Favre playin for the queens, so let it go, I don’t care who he plays for.
Also, I bought one, the green one, purple ain’t my style. GO PACK GO

Let’s call an Ace an Ace, and a Spade a Spade. The made came from nothing to something great. But alas, all good things must come to an end. Like his career! He has slowly deteriorated to the point of where, I quite honestly, am tired of watching incomplete passes, fumbles, injuries and trading from team to team like a bumble bee seeking pollen. Go and retire in peace without pomp and circumstance.

  • Weird i was googling my name today, and found this, pretty neat to do, lol, any way im glad people found me on your blog!
