PFT’s fearless leader has opined more than once that Brett Favre is going to use his shoulder injury as a built-in excuse if things don’t go well this season in Minnesota.

Well, now he has another excuse, at least for tonight’s preseason tilt against the Texans.

Favre reportedly told ESPN before Monday night’s game that he suspects he has a cracked rib. In true Favrian style, there hasn’t actually been an official diagnosis, but Favre says taking a deep breath causes discomfort. The Vikings haven’t mentioned the injury previously, and must be pumped that the information is out now.

The team can’t be too worried about it because Favre doesn’t plan to wear any kind of any extra padding since the “damage is done.”

The drama, surely, is just getting started.
